"We hired Chris to refurbish a very old fir floor. He very professionally and thoroughly described our options, the likelihood of success and the costs. We finally agreed on a new maple floor over the old one. Chris was very helpful in assisting us in choosing the flooring. And then the maple arrived and over the space of a week we watched in amazement as Chris lovingly handled each board and chose the joins and transitions with the flair of an artist. We are still finding "moments" that he crafted for us where one beautiful sworl or veining has been carefully joined to another to create a piece of art on our floors. "Working with Chris was a pleasure, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. He refinished two large floor surfaces and two staircases in our 1912 house. The job was challenging: an old carpet had left a significant imprint on the stairs, while the fir floors offered limited space to maneuver and required a lot of detailed work to get to each corner (and work around the existing trim). Chris took pride in his work, and his attention to detail was excellent — he would simply not give up until everything was done to the highest possible standards. He offered many different solutions to hide the imprint left by the carpet on the stairs, and actually tried multiple stains to let us decide which we liked best. At every step, he went beyond what could be expected: for example, when he found a leak in the bathroom after removing some of the trim, he arranged for a general contractor to look at it before proceeding (and did not charge us for it). Upon entering the house, he noticed that our front door scraped on the floor a bit, and immediately removed the door and trimmed it slightly to solve the problem. The final bill was closely aligned with the original quote (and, in our opinion, very reasonable given the amount of work) even if the job was more challenging and took a bit longer than anticipated. The whole time, Chris worked hard and very long hours, and was at the house all day, every day, from start to finish. Finally, Chris is a kind and pleasant person, we actually missed him when he was done with the work! We recommend Chris with no hesitation whatsoever."
